Sensory Room Lamps

If you’re lucky enough to have a new sensory room, chances are there aren’t a lot of lamps to change as most new products are LED driven. However for those products that do need periodic lamp changes, here are a few tips:

  • Switch the unit off and leave the lamp to cool for at least 20 minutes.
  • Don’t touch the ‘bulb’ part of the lamp. Touching the bulb part transfers grease from your fingers onto the unit, thereby creating a hotspot. When the lamp is switched on it will heat this area quickly and the lamp is more likely to blow sooner.
  • When you are taking a cover off a product to change the lamp, make a note of its orientation. Some products have covers which must be replaced in the same direction to ensure a steady air flow over the lamp.
  • Whilst you’re changing the lamp, you may want to do a little maintenance. If the unit has a fan, give it a hoover. Cleaning the fan means that more air will pass through and over the lamp, therefore keeping it cooler and prolonging its life.
  • Carefully clean the lens. Use a soft cloth and carefully clean the lens if the unit has one. You will be amazed at the results!
